Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty are two of the world’s most celebrated writers for Music Theatre, Cabaret and Film. Under the auspice of The University of Tasmania, Conservatorium of Music, in conjunction with the American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers (ASCAP) and the Australasian Performing Rights Association (APRA/AMCOS), Ahrens and Flaherty are coming to Australia, for the first time, for three concerts and for one only Songwriter’s Master Class.
The Master Class is hosted and presented by The University of Tasmania, Conservatorium of Music and Australia’s only Music Theatre and Cabaret Current Affairs Radio Program, BROADWAY AT BEDTIME.
WRITER’S PRESENTATION:
Writer’s are invited to present two works with time for a spoken set-up of context.
The presentation should be timed so that set-up, songs and panel discussion/critique (10 mins) fits into a 20 minute presentation overall.
Piano and modest PA will be provided. Writers should provide accompanist and singers (if the writer(s) does not wish to perform).
6 writers/writing teams will be chosen for the two hour presentation.
AUDIENCE:
Non-participating audience members are welcome to witness the work of the writers and that of the panel: Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty and a Guest panelist chosen from the Australian writing sphere.

Tony Award-winning Broadway Videttes, Lyricist, Lynn Ahrens and Composer, Stephen Flaherty will be in Australia to celebrate their triumphs with musicals that include: Ragtime, Seussical, the animated feature – Anastasia, A Man of no Importance, Dessa Rose, My Favourite Year, The Glorious Ones and The Dancer’s Life For Chita Rivera.
