ONE NIGHT ONLY IN HOBART

Broadway composer Stephen Schwartz has contributed music and/or lyrics to Godspell, Pippin, The Magic Show, The Baker’s Wife, Working, and the current Broadway hit, Wicked. For films, he collaborated with Alan Menken on the songs for Disney’s Enchanted as well as the animated features Pocahontas and The Hunchback Of Notre Dame and wrote the songs for the DreamWorks animated feature The Prince Of Egypt.

In June 2010, Tasmania will be the place to see, and hear, Stephen Schwartz discuss his work in conversation with ASCAP’s Michael A. Kerker in a Broadway to Australia exclusive event. The Conservatorium of Music, along with some of Australia’s leading music theatre performers, will perform an evening of his songs from the shows and the movies.

In collaboration with Michael A. Kerker, Stephen Schwartz convenes the ASCAP Foundation /Disney Musical Theatre Workshops held annually in New York and Los Angeles. In 2010, this workshop will be held for the first time in Australia at the University of Tasmania for aspiring Australian musical theatre writers and composers.
